There was once a time when Resident Evil and Silent Hill proudly sat on the survival horror throne side-by-side, and rumours and leaks over the last couple of months have suggested that that time could be coming back very soon.

That Capcom will make a Resident Evil 8 has never been in doubt, and sure enough, the game has been relentlessly leaked and pegged for an early 2021 cross-gen launch. Surprisingly, the long-dormant Silent Hill franchise has also been said to be in line for a revival thanks to an alleged partnership between Konami and Sony- and it’s possible that both these games might be revealed later today.

Over on Twitter, Dusk Golem (or AestheticGamer) – who’s been on the frontlines with leaks for both games – has stated that it’s likely that both survival horror games will be revealed at the imminent PS5 event. He seems much more confident about Resident Evil 8 getting revealed, saying that behind-the-scenes stuff – as well as Capcom’s public actions – indicate that an announcement is imminent.

He also says that as per his sources, the reason RE8 will be at the PS5 event is because it will be one of the first PSVR games on the console, and that just like Resident Evil 7, will have virtual reality exclusivity with Sony once more. It’s worth noting that other recent reports have also suggested the same.

Dusk Golem then goes on to talk about Silent Hill, saying that though he’s less certain of a reveal for it than RE8, he’s more confident of it than he’s ever been. After saying that “there’s a lot more going on behind-the-scenes”, he mentions that many have told him of late that the announcement is happening, and that the game is farther along in development than you’d think. Last week, he mentioned that the game was in a playable state and was possibly in line for a reveal soon.

Of course, none of this is coming from official channels, so take it with a grain of salt for now. The PS5 games showcase will kick off later today at 1 PM Pacific, so stay tuned for any and all updates.
