Housemarque’s Returnal made an appearance at Sony’s recent State of Play presentation, showcasing more of its action-packed movement and gunplay. The story sees ASTRA scout Selene drawn to Atropos in response to a mysterious signal. She finds herself trapped – death only causes her to awaken on the planet again. Check it out below.
The new trailer highlights the shifting nature of Atropos along with some of the enemies and weapons that players will encounter. Different augments can be acquired on each run while different clues to Selene’s past – and the greater mystery of the planet – are also slowly revealed. Some of the latter scenes can even take place from first person.
For more details on Returnal’s shifting biomes, head here. Six have been confirmed with three yet to be revealed. Returnal is currently slated to release on April 30th, exclusively for PlayStation 5. Expect more details and gameplay in the coming weeks so stay tuned.
