Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 have both been consistent sellers for Take-Two Interactive, with Rockstar’s open world games selling 5 million units and 1 million units respectively each quarter. At last count, their numbers stood ad 150 million units shipped for GTA 5, and 38 million for Red Dead Redemption 2. During the quarter ending September 30, the two games sold similar numbers once more.
Take-Two Interactive announced in its recent quarterly earnings report that Grand Theft Auto 5 has now shipped 155 million units worldwide, while Red Dead Redemption 2 has hit 39 million units. The GTA series has cumulatively shipped 355 million units, while the Red Dead Redemption series stands at 62 million units.
With Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition launching soon and GTA 5’s PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions launching next year, Rockstar and Take-Two are bound to see even higher sales for the series in the coming months (even though it looks like Grand Theft Auto 6 isn’t even close to being released). Meanwhile, rumours have suggested that a remaster of the original Red Dead Redemption is in the works as well, which could be another potential major release in the pipeline for Rockstar.
