Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One is out next week and offers a different take on the legendary detective. As a teen venturing to his home town on Cordona, Holmes is younger and more brash but still seeking to make a name for himself while investigating the death of his mother. In a new video, the developer highlights some of the different cinematic techniques it used to convey the emotion in some scenes.
For instance, in some scenes where Holmes is cornering an NPC, negative space is used to emphasize his dominance (which can be turned around as well). Another scene is framed using the branches of a tree, symbolizing the inescapable argument between Jon and Sherlock. Lighting and camera angles are further utilized to draw the player’s attention or convey different emotions.
Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One releases on November 16th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It will launch several weeks later for Xbox One and PS4. For more details on the title, check out our feature here.
