Skull and Bones, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope Will Launch by April 2023, Ubisoft Says

Ubisoft has been in a constant state of flux over the last couple of years, and that’s something that’s been reflected on multiple fronts. Unsurprisingly, that includes game releases as well, and with no shortage of projects facing delays and development issues, there isn’t a lot of clarity right now about what to expect from the company in the near future.

As part of its recent quarterly fiscal briefing though, Ubisoft provided a brief outline of what the company plans to launch during the course of fiscal year 2022-23, which runs from April 2022 to March 2023- and there’s some interesting points to look at here. Ubisoft says: “In line with Ubisoft’s commitment to significantly expand its offering, the next fiscal year will notably include the releases of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, Skull & Bones, as well as more exciting games.”

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is, of course, expected to launch exclusively for the Switch sometime in 2022, though some reports have suggested that the game could get delayed into the first half of 2023. Meanwhile, we haven’t seen or heard anything about Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora since its reveal last year, though at the time, the game was given a 2022 launch window.

The most interesting game mentioned here, however, is Skull and Bones. Ubisoft’s online pirate game was announced way back in 2017, and since then, has faced multiple delays, development issues, production reboots, and various other troubles. Most recently, associate game director Antoine Henry announced that he had left the project.

Meanwhile, in May last year, Ubisoft said Skull and Bones would launch in fiscal year 2023– here’s hoping it actually happens this time. If the game is indeed releasing within the next 14 months, we’ll probably start getting official details on it in the coming months. Until then, check out details on its open world, progression, combat, and more in this leak through here.

As for what other games Ubisoft has in the works that could launch during this period- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been MIA since its last delay, and many are beginning to wonder what the state of that project is- though Ubisoft has previously said that that, too, will launch before April 2023. Meanwhile, free-to-play games like The Division Heartland, Ghost Recon Frontlineand XDefiant are also in development.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok launches on March, while leaks have suggested that a smaller, more stealth-focused standalone new game in the series will also launch either later this year or by early 2023. Read more on that through here.
