When you’re roaming the lands of Horizon Forbidden West, every skirmish with the Machines can feel like a battle for your life. Some tower above others like the Thunderjaws and Stormbirds but there are also proper boss fights that will put your skills to the test.

Here are all of the main boss fights in the game. Spoilers follow so be warned:

  • Slitherfang
  • Grudda (Regalla’s Champion)
  • Grimhorn
  • Tremortusk
  • Slitherfang MkII
  • Tideripper
  • Dreadwing
  • Thunderjaw
  • Slaughterspine
  • Erik
  • Tilda

Check out all of the bosses along with how to beat them in the video below from Banden on YouTube. The final boss and ending are also showcased so once again, be careful if you want to avoid spoilers.

When tackling any Machines in the game, it’s good to have weapons for each element. Scan each boss before an encounter to see their weaknesses but don’t start pelting them immediately. Make sure to scan for weak points as well – some foes have canisters matching certain elements that can cause a chain reaction when destroyed. For example: The Tremortusk, despite being resistant to fire, has canisters which can be exploded with fire arrows to devastating effect.

Of course, it also pays to examine your environment whenever possible. You may find certain environmental traps or canisters that can cause massive damage to the boss. Keep an eye out on grapple spots for the Pullcaster as well. When used in conjunction with the Shieldwing, these can be invaluable for putting distance between you and your enemies.
