Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite’s next season, Lone Wolves, promises to inject some much-needed new content into the game when it goes live on May 3rd. 343 Industries continues to work on features like campaign co-op and Forge, with the former coming sometime in Season 2 while the latter arrives in Season 3. But it seems that developer Certain Affinity will have a bigger role in development.

On Twitter, it said, “We’re honored to say we are deepening our relationship with 343 and have been entrusted with further evolving Halo Infinite in some new and exciting ways.” Certain Affinity was already partnered with 343 Industries for the title and has worked on multiplayer for other entries in the series, including Halo 2: Anniversary.

How it will be further involved in Halo Infinite remains to be seen (though this could be the rumored “newcomer friendly” mode codenamed “Tatanka”). 343 Industries has come under criticism over the past few months for its reported reliance on third-party contractors. Of course, it reportedly had other issues during the game’s lengthy development process including personnel turnover, technical hurdles and mismanagement. It was originally meant to have a much larger world akin to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild but two-thirds ended up being cut.

Time will tell if Certain Affinity can help turn things around. In the meantime, it’s also rumored to be working on a Monster Hunter-inspired title that’s exclusive to Xbox.
