The Witcher 4 Developer Has “More Than One” Game in Mind for New Saga

"Like the first saga was three games, so now we are thinking about more than one game," said CD Projekt's Adam Kiciński about the new saga.

Along with Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion, CD Projekt RED is also developing the next Witcher game. Unlike previous titles, it’s built on Unreal Engine 5 instead of the company’s proprietary RED Engine. It also noted this as the first in a “new saga for the franchise.”

If you think this means multiple new titles, then CD Projekt is already one step ahead. In the company’s half-year earnings call for 2022, president and joint CEO Adam Kiciński said, “We have in mind more than one. So like the first saga was three games, so now we are thinking about more than one game.”

However, he reiterated that the studio was still in pre-production on the first game. It could be a long while before any new details, so stay tuned (and head here for 10 things we hope to see in it). CD Projekt RED is also working on the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is on track to release in Q4 2022.

Interestingly, CD Projekt has another triple-A title being developed in parallel to the next Witcher. It’s also committed to supporting the Cyberpunk IP after Phantom Liberty, even hinting at new non-video game content.
