Fable was announced nearly three years ago, and has been in development for even longer, but since its CG announcement teaser trailer from 2020, we’ve seen absolutely nothing of the game so far. People are, understandably enough, getting increasingly anxious about the state of the project and how it’s shaping up, but it would seem that developer Playground Games is quietly making steady progress behind-the-scenes.

As spotted by Twisted Voxel, the LinkedIn profile of Fable producer Vijay Gill would certainly suggest the same. In his profile, Gill suggests that the game is in a playable state, mentioning that part of his responsibilities at Playground Games is to “prepare and facilitate regular game playthroughs and build reviews with key stakeholders.”

Of course, a playable build of a game can take many, many forms during the course of a development cycle, and don’t necessarily indicate what stage of production a project currently finds itself in. But given the fact that Fable has been in development for a number of years at this point, one would assume that it has taken enough shape to be playable in greater capacity than that.

Some reports have suggested that Fable has faced several development issues during the course of production, thanks in large part to internal politics at the studio arising out of the game’s use of the ForzaTech Engine. That said, other reports that have claimed that the project was recently rebooted have been labelled false by credible sources.

It was recently also reported that Playground Games is receiving development support on the RPG by Deus Ex developer Eidos Montreal.
