Fallout: New Vegas may not have been a numbered entry in the long-running RPG series, and it may not even have been developed by franchise stewards Bethesda, but it still ranks as one of the most beloved entries in the series. Close to thirteen years on from its launch, there’s no shortage of people who’re pining for it to return in some fashion- and the folks at Obsidian, the studio that made the game, are in that group as well.

Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, game directors at Obsidian, recently said in an interview with TheGamer that they would love to see a modern remasters of Fallout: New Vegas with all the visual and technical bells and whistles that you’d expect to see from a release of that sort. This, of course, comes off the back off Obsidian announcing The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Editiona remaster of the sci-fi RPG for current-gen consoles.

Eric DeMilt, production director on the the aforementioned remaster, said about Fallout: New Vegas, “When it came out, it had stability issues. It’s overcome those and now people are able to go back to that game, because those characters and the stories are just rich, and people want to be in there.”

In response, Cain said, “Not that it’s up to me, but wouldn’t a graphical remaster of Fallout New Vegas be awesome?”

To which, Boyarsky responded, “It would be awesome.”

While it remains to be seen whether a remaster of that nature will be greenlit by Bethesda and Microsoft, there have, of course, been some rumours that New Vegas might end up coming back in the future, with previous reports having alleged that a sequel to the RPG is in “very, very early” discussions at Microsoft.

Josh Sawyer, who directed New Vegas, has also said that he would be interested in working on another Fallout game at some point in the future.
