As we get closer to the Xbox Series X/S release of Helldivers 2 – slated for August 26 – CEO of developer Arrowhead Game Studios, Shams Jorjani, has credited PlayStation as being responsible for the game coming to Xbox. As caught by Windows Central, Jorjani wrote on the game’s official Discord server about how Xbox players should send their thanks to PlayStation for supporting the port.
“It was all PlayStation,” wrote Jorjani in response to another player praising the studio for working on an Xbox Series X/S port of Helldivers 2. “Send them your thanks! We were all in support of course.” In a later comment, Jorjani also said that it was incredibly cool of PlayStation to make the decision, referring to it as “one of the coolest things they’ve done. They’re killing it.”
It is worth noting that, once it hits Xbox Series X/S later this month, Helldivers 2 will be the second first-party PlayStation game to make its way on to Xbox, following the MLB: The Show series.
While the game might be coming to Xbox, the studio had previously confirmed that it had no plans to bring Helldivers 2 to Game Pass. Rather, the game is available to purchase at a price tag of $39.99, with a $59.99 Super Citizen Edition also being available, which comes with the game as well as a host of in-game goodies, including a Warbond Token.
The Warbond Token is a new system that was announced by Arrowhead Game Studios last month. As part of the system, instead of the game’s Super Citizen Edition giving players the Steeled Veterans Warbond, it will instead allow players to choose which Warbond they want. The decision, according to the studio, was made in order to allow players that might have already grabbed the Steeled Veterans Warbond to still get value out of buying a Super Citizen Edition Upgrade.
“Prior to now players could accidentally double up purchases on the ‘Steeled Veterans Warbond’ in the game and with the Super Citizen Edition Upgrade,” explained the studio when it announced Warbond Tokens. “We never want players to buy things twice and not get the value of what they paid for!”
Arrowhead has also made it clear that Warbond Tokens will not be a separate thing that players can purchase. Rather, it will only be available as part of the Super Citizen Edition. In order to buy any of the in-game Warbonds, players will have to buy and spend Super Credits. “There are no plans for the Warbond Token to exist as a standalone product,” said the studio. “Players will still be able to access and purchase any Premium Warbond within the game as it has been to date.”
The developers of Helldivers 2 announced earlier this week that they had just returned from a two-week-long vacation, and that they were now “100 percent” focused on fixing bugs and optimising the game. The studio had kicked off this vacation right after it had released an update for the game that seemingly introduced a host of bugs and performance issues.
