Pacific Drive Whispers in the Woods

After customization packs and free updates, Ironwood Studios’ Pacific Drive is getting its first paid expansion this year with Whispers in the Woods. It focuses on a new area in the Olympic Exclusion Zone where “Anomaly-obsessed fanatics” have marked their territory. Check out the spooky announcement trailer below.

Whispers in the Woods becomes available after the initial few hours and promises a new eight to 12-hour story. As players explore the mysterious woods, filled with new maps, altars, route modifiers, and resources, they’ll also discover new Anomalies and parts for customizing the station wagon.

There are also new Artifacts that bestow “mysterious changes and effects” while increasing the challenge. It sounds like a risk vs. reward mechanic, but we’ll need to wait for more details (and the release date).

Pacific Drive is available for PS5 and PC. It sold one million copies as of February 2025. Check out our review for the base game here, but it’s changed significantly since launch with new gameplay settings, Permadeath, Expeditions, and more.
