Rockstar Games has announced that an extended look for Grand Theft Auto 6 will debut via Netflix on August 27th at 3 PM ET. Non-subscribers can watch it on the official YouTube channel and site at 9 PM ET.
This follows rumors that the developer would have more information for the upcoming open-world epic, with insider NateTheHate claiming it would be the “update people seek.” There’s no other way to look at this than a proper gameplay reveal, with Rockstar potentially laying out a good chunk of everything players should know.
The timing also isn’t too out of the ordinary – it’s done this for previous releases like Red Dead Redemption 2 as well. It’s the Netflix reveal that’s especially interesting. Obviously, this will get millions of eyes on the title, and if it’s factored into the service’s top-viewed list, then it can serve as a constant reminder for subscribers.
Of course, that it’s debuting later on the company’s official YouTube channel also suggests that Netflix paid a hefty sum for this partnership. Again, not unexpected, but this might be the first time it’s done so for a video game reveal.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is out on November 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Stay tuned for more details and a breakdown of the reveal when it happens.
