Grand Theft Auto 6 Team Hand-Crafted “Every Room,” “Art-Directed Each Individual”

"Who's sitting where, what they're drinking, the marks that are left on the table" are only a few things Rockstar considered for each room.

Even at nearly 27 minutes, the recent Extended Look at Grand Theft Auto 6 seemed to offer only a glimpse of what Rockstar Games has to offer. When you’re presented with such intricate attention to detail in the environments, protagonists, and NPCs, it’s overwhelming to hear that the world is three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2’s playable area.

But it’s not just Rockstar North co-head Aaron Garbut talking about how the studio’s Los Angeles branch “art-directed each individual” NPC that surprises us so much as the reveal that every room is hand-crafted. “Every room in the game, somebody thought about this,” he told The New York Times.

“Who’s sitting where, what they’re drinking, the marks that are left on the table. The pictures on the wall will have the people that are in that room, with their tattoos on their arms and their family behind them. That whole thing has been made, and built, and photographed, and placed in this random room in a random building in a huge city, in a world.” And when you consider just how many there may be, both in Vice City and outside it across Leonida, the mind boggles at the possibilities.

Of course, it’s unknown if players will be able to enter every single room in Grand Theft Auto 6, much less all the buildings. Regardless, even if you’re not bothering to check and comment on the various living spaces adorning the world, completing the story should keep you plenty busy. Considering that there are optional goals that can affect the narrative – not to mention various activities – sprinkling in the bonus of simply wandering the world and taking everything in should keep fans busy for a long time.

Grand Theft Auto 6 will be available on November 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. As impressive as all this love and care sounds, Rockstar has reportedly made some compromises. It will allegedly launch with only 30 FPS support, though the team is seemingly looking into whether 60 FPS is even possible. Stay tuned for more updates on that front and other technical aspects, including the resolution, in the coming months.
