It’s hard to believe that Battlefield 6 is celebrating its first anniversary, especially with the journey it’s had over the past year. Debuting to strong reviews and player counts, the shooter saw massive drops in the latter and mixed impressions due to bugs, lack of features, and eventually, being forced into REDSEC to complete Battle Pass challenges.
However, with Season 5 coming soon, Battlefield Studios is finally adding two features that fans have wanted since the beginning: a server browser and Platoons. The former is obviously coveted because it lets you select servers with specific maps, modes, ping, etc. or host your own and adjust any parameters.
The latter is essentially Battlefield’s equivalent of clans, with founders, leaders, custom emblems and more. Battlefield 4 adds stats and rankings, though later entries pared back several functions. It’s unclear how many of these will make the jump to Battlefield 6.
Season 5 kicks off on October 13th, coinciding with the game’s launch on Game Pass. The downside is that the server browser and Platoons won’t be added until phase 3, Frozen Aces, on December 8th. On the bright side, at least the Vegas Strip will be available as a new map later this week. There’s also a new Dead Space-centric event to look forward to.
