Fresh off its work on Silent Hill 2 remake (which sold over one million copies), Bloober Team revealed its next title during the Xbox Partner Preview. Cronos: The New Dawn is a third-person survival horror title, with the first cinematic trailer showcasing a character in an armored suit fighting against monstrosities.

The description revealed that there’s time travel, and thanks to Xbox Wire, we have more details. Touted as a “new direction” for the studio, Cronos is set between two periods – Communist Poland during the 1980s and a post-pandemic wasteland in the future marred by The Change.

According to Steam, players control a Traveler for the Collective, you’ll explore the latter to find rifts to return to the 80s. The mission is to find individuals in the past and extract their Essence to bring them into the future. This may explain what happened to the old woman in the trailer. The enemies are “born from the remnants of humanity” and players must make “quick decisions” in battle to survive.

Cronos: The New Dawn launches in 2025 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s self-published by Bloober Team and could be Project C, which Private Division initially agreed to publish before backing out earlier this year. The studio is also working on Project M with Serial Cleaners developer Draw Distance and Skybound Entertainment’s R.
