Firesprite offered a better look at the choices and consequences awaiting in Until Dawn 2, the sequel to Supermassive’s cult-classic narrative horror. However, perhaps more intriguing is that it teamed up with Dispatch developer AdHoc Studio for the narrative.
Creative director Stu Tilley said on the PlayStation Blog that players can expect “a deeply layered story packed with rich characters, razor-sharp dialogue, fraught relationships, tough decisions, and yes… more than a few gruesome deaths” as a result. Even if your choice doesn’t immediately result in someone’s demise, it can affect the story down the line.
With how much recognition Dispatch received for its writing, characterization and branching choices, it’s probably the right call to have them on board. After the announcement trailer, which didn’t really capture the same vibe as the first game, it’s good to see something far more unnerving in the most recent trailer.
Until Dawn 2 launches on January 28th, 2027, exclusively for PS5. Pre-orders will go live on September 10th, and you can net a classic outfit and Akishima Island holiday outfit for free. There will also be bobbleheads based on the infamous Dr Hill to discover, for whatever purpose that may serve.
Those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition can dress up the Dead True crew in neon-style outfits and access Diorama of Death. The latter lets you relive deaths from different angles presented in vignettes. Perfect for those who want the most bang for their gruesome buck.
