"We won’t cheat with the airship system, but challenge it head-on so that players can freely fly around the map," says producer Yoshinori Kitase.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was a mind-bogglingly massive game, but appropriately enough, it’s looking like its sequel will wrap up the remake trilogy with an even larger and grander experience. For instance, the developers have previously spoken about how the airship, the Highwind, is going to be fully pilotable, and that the world map is going to have to be redesigned to accommodate for that.

Speaking recently at a panel at the Korean G-STAR 2024 gaming conference (via 4Gamer), producer Yoshinori Kitase spoke about the same once more, stating that players will be able to experience the vast world from “a higher perspective”, and that players will be able to freely traverse the map using the airship.

“We won’t cheat with the airship system, but challenge it head-on so that players can freely fly around the map,” Kitase said (via VGC).

During the panel, Kitase also stated that work on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3’s story is complete, with development moving forward to the next stage. Read more on that through here.
