Forspoken

Luminous Productions’ Forspoken, an open world action RPG published by Square Enix, has been rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). Somewhat unsurprisingly, it’s been rated M for Mature due to its use of strong language and violence. It even describes cutscenes with “additional acts of violence” such as “a character attempting to jump off a building; monsters killing civilians; a character held at gunpoint.”

That last part may be in reference to protagonist Faye’s former life before being whisked off to the realm of Athia. With the help of a sentient bracelet and new magical abilities, she sets out to battle the Tantas – formerly beloved matriarchs who have since turned to the dark side. Athia offers four realms to explore with monsters to fight and a mysterious blight called The Break to deal with.

For all intents and purposes, the story could end up being a lot more brutal than whatever we’ve seen thus far based on the rating. Forspoken is currently slated to release on May 24th for PS5 and PC. It will retail for $70 on both platforms – check out the pre-purchase bonuses and Deluxe Edition details here.
