The Coalition delivered a new story trailer for Gears of War: E-Day at Gamescom Opening Night Live, highlighting the new threat Marcus Fenix and Bravo Squad must deal with. No, not General RAAM, but a relatively unknown individual who prefers to get up close and personal. Also pouring Emulsion straight on a human’s head, which is far from ideal. Check it out below.
There’s a lot more to look forward to, including a scene where Bravo Squad is underground and sees the Locust army amassing. Marcus is Marcus, of course, forging ahead regardless of the circumstances, but as time goes on, the situation becomes more desperate in Kalona. Naturally, that’s reflected in the game’s three-act structure as the conflict wears on.
Still, it’s a very impressive showing of facial animations, graphical details (including individual water drops on faces), and more. And how else should it end but with a hint of the signature Chainsaw Lancer revving up?
Gears of War: E-Day launches on October 6th for Xbox Series X/S and PC. While the campaign promises a 14+ hour experience where you can control any member of Bravo Squad, it also offers Horde Siege co-op and extensive multiplayer modes. Check out our impressions of the former here.
