Sony’s first party efforts were elevated to new heights during the PS4 era, and they have reaped the rewards for those efforts with impressive critical and commercial success. The likes of God of War, Uncharted 4, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and more have all hit impressive sales milestones- similarly, Guerrilla Games’ incredible 2017 open world action RPG Horizon Zero Dawn continues to enjoy great success as well.
In a recently published PlayStation Blog update, Guerrilla Games’ studio director and executive producer revealed that as of November 28, 2021, Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4 and PC has collectively sold over 20 million units worldwide. Players across the world have also collectively played the game for over a billion hours. This is the first time official cumulative sales figures have been provided for the game since early 2019, before it had launched for PC, at which point it stood at over 10 million units sold.
Sony and Guerrilla will be hoping that the upcoming sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, enjoys similar success on all fronts. The game is out on February 18 for PS5 and PS4. A new cinematic trailer for it has also been released- check it out through here.
