Immortals of Aveum

Ascendant Studios’ Immortals of Aveum has made a splash with its gameplay, showcasing fast-paced magic-based combat and a gorgeous world brought to life with Unreal Engine 5.1. The recent first look trailer outlined the different Colors of magic that protagonist Jak could wield and the enemies faced.

Ascendant Studios community content manager Tessachka and YouTube channel manager Zach Drapala discuss the trailer in more detail. For instance, there’s an in-game HUD, but it was turned off during the trailer. Furthermore, Jak can fight alongside some of his allies during missions, as seen in the opening. However, he’ll be solo for most of the game.

It’s also worth noting that the different magic Colors – Blue, Red and Green – are used to exploit enemy weaknesses. If enemies are buffed with Red Magic, you can use the same Color magic to negate it. There’s some Simon Says going on, and it helps provide some clarity during combat.

Immortals of Aveum is out on July 20th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Head here for a look at its environments and a cinematic.
