Kojima Productions’ “Who Am I?” Project Seems to be Death Stranding 2 – Rumour

The recent Twitter activity of a Kojima Productions producer seems to imply that the project currently being teased is a Death Stranding sequel.

Kojima Productions New Game - Elle Fanning

It seems like the time is soon approaching for Kojima Productions to reveal what it’s next project is going to be, and sure enough, in the lead-up to that, we’ve seen some rather interesting recent leaks from Hideo Kojima himself. Recently, it was confirmed that actress Elle Fanning would have a starring role in the title, whatever it turns out to be- and now, it seems we may have a bit of an idea of what exactly the game is.

As spotted by Gematsu on Twitter, Kateryna Tarasova – a producer at Kojima Productions – recently retweeted one of Kojima’s aforementioned teases, and in the tweet, included a “#DeathStranding” tag, leading to widespread speculation of a sequel. Not long afterward, she published another tweet, saying that she simply forgot to include a question mark at the end of the tag- but even if we were to assume that that’s true, it still very much seems like a purposefully directed tease.

This isn’t the first time Death Stranding 2 has been mentioned in reports. Earlier this year, actor Norman Reedus casually let slip that a sequel was in the works, which Hideo Kojima seemingly also acknowledged the rumours with a tweet soon afterward. Recently, a leaked Sony document listing several unannounced upcoming titles also mentioned a Death Stranding sequel.

A recent report stated that a single player-only Death Stranding 2 was in early development as a Stadia exclusive at one point, only for Google to shut the project down. It remains to be seen whether the game in its current form will follow the same template, or if it will include asynchronous multiplayer mechanics like its predecessor did. Assuming, of course, that this is indeed a Death Stranding sequel.

Kojima Productions is currently also working on a cloud-native game exclusively for Xbox in partnership with Microsoft. Reports have claimed that that title is the recently-leaked horror game Overdose.
