UPDATE: Crystal Dynamics has now pushed out a patch for the game that addresses the PS5 crashes. “We have released an update on PS5 that addresses the crash issue that some players have been having,” the developer says on Twitter. “Please let us know if you continue to have the problem.”
Original story follows:
Marvel’s Avengers has been lurching from one problem to the next pretty much since the day it launched, but recent months have looked particularly bleak for Square Enix’s live service title. There’s no word on whether there are any plans for additional expansions (though leaks suggest She-Hulk is coming), and the last major content update was War for Wakanda back in August last year. We did get Spider-Man in November, but the half-hearted PlayStation-only DLC was widely criticized by the game’s player base.
Now, it seems more troubles are emerging- and it doesn’t seem like Crystal Dynamics has the right solution just yet. Taking to Twitter, the developer recently confirmed the existence of a bug that is causing crashes for some PS5 players, and added that a potential fix has been identified and is being tested.
While there’s no word yet on when this fix will arrive, Crystal Dynamics has detailed a workaround for players- though bafflingly enough, the developer says that using this workaround will reset all of your progress in Marvel’s Avengers’ campaign. It’s a bit of a head-scratcher- surely there was no need to even mention a workaround that will delete all of your campaign progress.
Here’s hoping Crystal Dynamics pushes out a fix for the crashing issues soon so that players don’t have to resort to this bizarre workaround. Stay tuned for more updates on the same.
Our team is continuing to investigate the issue causing a crash for some PS5 players. We think we've identified a fix that is currently being implemented/tested. We hope to have more news by tomorrow morning and will continue to keep you updated.

Go to Operations and Reset your Reassemble Campaign Progress. As soon as you become young Kamala on A-Day, force close the game from the PS home screen, then you should be able to start Avengers Initiative.
