Between a new story trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine and the animated opening for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, you would think there’d be more coming out of San Diego Comic-Con. Perhaps even a crossover since they both feature Wolverine? Ask, and you will receive, as Insomniac Games confirmed that each title would feature a suit based on the other.
For Marvel’s Wolverine, that means an anime-style outfit with the traditional blue-and-yellow X-Men colors… except the proportions look very different. Available at the game’s launch, it stands out against the photorealistic style, though, and should be a treat during some of the more serious moments.
On the other hand, Fighting Souls’ “Battle Reborn” outfit translates Insomniac’s original design quite well. The yellow-and-black is segmented to look more like armor, which probably won’t make much difference when you’re taking loads of damage, but it’s the thought that counts. It will be available on September 1st for all players.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls arrives on August 6th for PS5 and PC, with the open beta slated for July 24th to 26th. Marvel’s Wolverine lands on September 15th, exclusively for PS5 and with no prospect of ever coming to PC given PlayStation’s current stance. You can check out some more extensive gameplay for the latter here, and learn more about how Insomniac is handling the linear, globe-trotting adventure.
