Mortal Shell

Mortal Shell’s beta is open for all players to try on PC. Cold Symmetry originally planned a closed beta for the Souls-like but due to strong demand (which was expected but “nothing like this”), it’s now available for all PC players. Head on over to the Epic Games Store today to try it out.

Unlike traditional Souls-like games, Mortal Shell sees the player inhabiting “Shells” which provide different abilities and skills. Only two Shells are available in the open beta – Harros and Tiel – and you can only play a bit of Fallgrim. Regardless, impressions are already circulating about the game’s difficulty so it should offer some substantial playtime all the same.

The final game will have four Shells to inhabit overall with each having their own unique backstory and lore. Mortal Shell is currently slated to release for Xbox One, PS4 and PC later this year. It will launch on Steam in 2021. Check out the official PC requirements here to see if your system can handle the beta.
