Obsidian Entertainment Boss Would “Love” to Make Another Fallout Game

"There's not even a question of whether or not we would do it, it's just 'Will the opportunity arise?'" says Feargus Urquhart.

Fallout 76 is defying all the odds and doing better than anyone could have expected at the time of its disastrous launch, while Bethesda has said that once Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 are wrapped up, it’ll move on to Fallout 5 next. But of course, there’s no shortage of fans of the post-apocalyptic RPG series that have been hoping for years that Obsidian Entertainment will get another crack at it- after all, Fallout: New Vegas remains one of the most widely beloved instalments in the franchise.

So is there a chance that we’ll get to see a new Fallout game developed by Obsidian at some point in the future, especially with Bethesda and Obsidian both now being owned by Xbox? The studio’s co-founder and CEO Feargus Urquhart certainly hopes that’s the case. Speaking with DualShockers, Urquhart said that though Obsidian has plenty of upcoming titles in its pipeline right now, as soon as it finds the time to do so, the studio would “love” to make a new Fallout game.

“Of course, if we ever got the opportunity to make another Fallout game, we’d make it. There’s not even a question of whether or not we would do it, it’s just ‘Will the opportunity arise?'” he said. “I hung around at Interplay for probably an extra year because I wanted to work on Fallout more. I love Fallout.”

Urquhart added: “At some point we’ll start looking into what those next games are going to be, and I would be surprised if Fallout is not on that list. If we were to do Fallout, it has to tie in with what Bethesda is doing with Fallout and a lot of other things, but I would always personally say my hope is that before I ride off into the sunset, I’d love to make another Fallout game.”

Of course, Obsidian Entertainment has plenty on its plate for now. Grounded recently launched out of early access, while the studio is also working on Pentiment (which launches next month), Avowedand The Outer Worlds 2Release dates or windows for the latter are currently unknown.

Earlier this year, reports claimed that an Obsidian-developed sequel to Fallout: New Vegas was in “very, very early” talks at Microsoft. Read more on that through here.
