Octopath Traveler Prequel Announced For Mobile

You got more than you bargained for!

Octopath Traveler

Octopath Traveler is very successful, and we know a follow-up for consoles is in development. That’s great news. But meanwhile, Square Enix are also pushing a new Octopath game for mobiles—it’s called Octopath Traveler Tairiku no Hasha, which roughly translates to Octopath Traveler: Conquerors of the Continent.

I wouldn’t be too hopeful about it—it will be free-to-play (meaning microtransactions), and for now, it’s only confirmed for Japan (because it’s not like Octopath Traveler demonstrated how much of a market there is for this kind of game worldwide, right?). There will be a beta for the game which you can register for starting March 12 here on the official website, however.

In good news, it does look like the game will continue the gorgeous “HD-2D” look from the original Switch game, so at least there is that. Maybe Japanese gamers will find that the game can tide them over until the console follow-up ends up launching, whenever and whatever it is.
