Nintendo dropped quite the array of big announcements in its latest Direct presentation. Astral Chain, Super Mario Maker 2, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Remake, and much more are all bound for the Switch, and all coming this year. However, in the midst of all this, Nintendo also confirmed that version 3.0 of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is on the way.
Releasing this Spring, there are no details on the update yet – even the announcement says we’ll have to “wait and see” what’s in it. However, Nintendo also confirmed that Persona 5’s Joker, the first DLC character in the Fighters Pass, will be out before April ends. A small sneak peek at Joker’s in-game model was also provided.
Nintendo has been supporting Super Smash Bros. Ultimate strongly since launch with weekend events, new DLC characters like Piranha Plant, and much more. The game has sold over 12 million units worldwide, and more than five million units in the United States. Stay tuned for more details on the version 3.0 update when it arrives.
