After months of rumors for the same, Sony has officially confirmed that PlayStation VR2 will release in early 2023. A tweet by PlayStation France first announced the same, and lest one would think it was a mistake, the UK and New Zealand Twitters also confirmed it along with the official PlayStation Instagram.

Built for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2 features a head-mounted display with an OLED screen and 2000×2040 resolution per eye. Refresh rates of 90/120 Hz are supported along with a 110-degree field of view. Support for 4K and HDR, foveated rendering, eye tracking (which Tobii is confirmed to be handling), and more have also been confirmed.

The PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers build upon DualSense’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, along with finger touch detection. Sony has also revealed numerous titles for the HMD, from No Man’s Sky and Resident Evil Village to Horizon Call of the Mountain. A price has yet to be revealed.

With a PlayStation Showcase rumored for September 8th, perhaps it will be announced there. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
