Titles like Humankind and Back 4 Blood have faced sudden delays but Housemarque’s Returnal is still on track. The studio tweeted that the upcoming shooter has gone gold and thanks everyone involved. “We can’t wait to have this out soon and for every player out there to experience the planet of Atropos!”

Returnal follows the journey of ASTRA scout Selene as she crashes on the alien planet of Atropos. Upon exploring the planet, it becomes clear that things aren’t what they seem, whether it’s the dangerous wildlife or ruins. Death doesn’t provide any solace either as Selene awakens again on Atropos and must start over. In the midst of all this is the pursuit for The White Shadow.

Along with discovering audio logs from previous runs, Selene can also find weapons and upgrades to increase her chances of survival on the planet. Narrative events also pop up randomly, providing more details on Selene’s past. As game director Harry Krueger noted previously, players will want to keep revisiting Atropos and “really try to decipher the mystery of what Returnal is.”

Returnal is out on April 30th, exclusively for PS5. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
