Housemarque’s PS5 exclusive Returnal is out soon, and has thus received a launch trailer. The rogue-lite third person shooter sees ASTRA scout Selene crash-landing on Atropos, a mysterious planet with hostile wildlife. Things get even weirder when she dies and winds up re-awakening on the planet once more.
As the trailer showcases, Selene will battle all kinds of Eldritch horrors while seemingly sorting out her own memories. What is the White Shadow signal that she’s been chasing? What is the house that randomly pops up between runs? Whose gravestone is seen near the end? All kinds of questions come to mind and players will need to replay the experience to answer them.
Releasing on April 30th, Returnal offers 10 base weapons with over 90 weapon traits to alter their behavior; daily challenges and leaderboards; and numerous artifacts, consumables and upgrades to further mix up the experience. It will also run at dynamic 4K and 60 FPS on the PS5 with ray-tracing enabled. Stay tuned for more details in the coming days.
