the last of us part 2

Gustavo Santaolalla’s soundtrack is one of he best, most memorable parts of the already masterful The Last of Us– understated and melancholy yet perfectly fitting of the game, its narrative, and its atmosphere in every way possible.

Santaolalla will be returning to compose the sequel’s score as well, and it looks like he’s returning in just as fine form as ever. Through his personal Instagram account, Santaolalla shared a clip from a new track from the upcoming sequel, which you can listen to below. It has that distinct TLoU sound to it, and should give you assurances that Naughty Dog aren’t letting their hair down for the highly anticipated sequel.

Rumours arose very recently that Sony were gearing up to announce a release date for The Last of Us Part 2 for later this year- which didn’t end up happening (they did that for Death Stranding instead, much to our surprise). New reports suggest that the action adventure sequel will be out in early 2020. Either way, we do know for a fact that Naughty Dog are working on “closing out development” for the project, so it can’t be too far out one way or another.
