1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
What began as a simple journey to defeat Calamity Ganon opened up a brave new Hyrule to explore, one where complete freedom also extended to one’s play-style. The simple act of climbing up a rock face only to discover a new mysterious Shrine; of sailing across the water to discover an island that strips you of all equipment; or happening upon a mythical creature on a mountain that serves as an homage to late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata are just some of the incredible sights to behold. Five years later, it’s incredible how much The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has endured with its open world design, aesthetic, combat and characters still being top notch.
