Mass Effect established an interesting new RPG vision for BioWare – a venture into sci-fi story-telling and space opera. However, Mass Effect 2 refined it, honing the third-person shooter/RPG gameplay into a more responsive and enjoyable form. It delivered one of the best casts in gaming, each with their own complex backstories and missions, along with a perfect finale in the Suicide Mission. Say what you will about the sequel and its endings but Mass Effect 2 more than stands the test of time.
