Going from cake references and stellar puzzle rooms to a full-blown, physics-based puzzle platformer with an epic storyline and characters takes some work (and that’s putting it lightly). Yet Portal 2 makes it look like the easiest thing in the world, crafting a gorgeous sequel that’s rich in detail and packed with that signature Valve feel. Also, lo and behold, it expands on the original’s puzzle-solving premise in innovative, zany waves. It’s everything you could ever want in a game, minus cake, sadly.
