E3 2010 – Microsoft’s Kinect Disaster
Looking back on Microsoft’s unveil of the Kinect underscores just how horrible it all was. The Cirque Du Soleil event to reveal the product, complete with blue ponchos worn in the audience, was disturbing enough. However, the actual E3 presser was just one annoying demo after another, from Kinectimals’ fake cuteness to Kinect Adventures’ “casual” appeal. As depressing as it was, the first Kinect was a huge success for Microsoft even if its follow-up crashed and burned.
