E3 1995 – “$299”
Sega announced the pricing for the Sega Saturn in 1995 to be $399. You could forgive most fans for balking at the price since roughly $400 for a game console with very few games was simply asinine back then. Of course, during Sony’s E3 1995 presser, SCEA president Steve Race walked on stage, simply said “$299”, walked off and pretty much slapped Sega in the face with the PlayStation One’s pricing.
