Developer One More Level has released a new trailer for Valor Mortis, this time around focusing on the first-person soulsike game’s story. The trailer, which you can check out below, clocks in at a minute and a half in length and also confirms that its rendition of Napoleon Bonaparte will be played by César Award-winning actor Vincent Cassel.
The trailer showcases the rebel leader fighting against Napoleon’s empire in Eastern Europe – Shrike. Along with these story details, we also get to see some more gameplay, which will pit players against plague-infested soldiers that are as savage and brutal as they ever were, but are now also supernaturally more powerful.
Throughout the title, protagonist William Dowsett will also find himself absorbing the essence of some of the foes he defeats. How this will affect his combat prowess or his mental state, however, remains to be seen. Other characters that William will run into over the course of the story include fellow soldier James Stewart and lamplighter Lucjan Skawiński, each of whom has their own motivations and goals.
Valor Mortis was originally slated for release on September 24th. However, the studio decided to push it back to October 13th due to the crowded release schedule in the month.
“September has become absolutely stacked with incredible-looking games,” explained One More Level. “We knew this was a possibility, but when you’re in a partner showcase as we were, dates get locked weeks in advance.” Which would certainly explain why so many titles, including Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and more, opted for the same day.”
Valor Mortis is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
