Super Mario Sunshine
Like Smash Bros., Sunshine’s graphical leap is most appreciated by those who played Super Mario 64. The beach theme of Delfino Plaza allowed the game to flex its detailed flora and lovingly rendered water. It also didn’t hurt that the world felt bigger with more abundant details. And for the first time, Mario and the crew had proper expressions and details on their outfits. Despite still being viewed as the “black sheep” of the 3D platforming series, Super Mario Sunshine is an aesthetically pleasing trip.
