12. The Last of Us (2013)

Much like Halo 4, The Last of Us arrived near the cusp of the next console generation, originally launching for the PS3 in 2013. That didn’t dull its impact one bit though – the level of detail for characters Joel and Ellie, from their realistic animations to detailed skin textures, is astounding even today. Couple this with the incredible use of shadows, lighting, post-processing effects and gorgeous environments, and you have an instant classic. Only frame rate dips during certain scenes (which were fixed in the PS4 remastered) would mar the overall experience.
