Path of Exile
On its own, Path of Exile is a very good action RPG with solid combat, great build diversity and lore that’s genuinely interesting. It’s the end-game that cements it as an obsessive hobby. There’s the Atlas of Worlds, a tiered-map system leading to an ultimate end-boss but rife with its own modifiers, bosses, unique enemies, mechanics and more. Then new Leagues are added each season, bringing their own ideas, unique items, currencies and much more to the fold. Over time, Path of Exile has rolled a number of its Leagues into the base game, revamped the end-game significantly and offered numerous avenues for crafting, trading, earning currency and of course, killing things.
