Following the conclusion of its Steam Summer Sale in 2017, Valve banned an unprecedented number of players. Usually Valve Anti-Cheat bans are about 3,000 to 4,000 per day but in this case, 40,411 players were banned by June 6^th. One reasoning could be the number of cheaters buying games like CS: GO at a discount to get back in after their first ban. Fortunately, Valve never forgets.
