Before Monolith Productions got busy stuffing its last triple A title with microtransactions, it worked on games like Condemned: Criminal Origins. The original game set a strong standard for psychological horror roughly four years before Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Condemned 2: Bloodshot was also good in its own right despite lacking a tight story but from there, the franchise just ceased to be. Monolith busied itself with F.E.A.R. 2 while delving further into Lord of the Rings games, eventually releasing Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor in 2014 and Shadow of War in 2017.
