For many players, Maya was a favourite. She was a bad ass in Borderlands 2 with an awesome backstory and seemed to be one of the few likable characters in the sequel (especially next to the annoying Ava). So when Maya accompanies the Vault Hunter to Promethea to unlock its Vault, there’s an awesome sense of adventure and kinship. Then Maya goes up against the Kalypso Twins to save Ava and dies. Not only that but she dies by virtue of being disintegrated by Troy? It was completely out of left field and pretty lame as a whole.
