Ys 9: Monstrum Nox
Falcom’s games pre-Kuro no Kiseki haven’t really been known for their graphical fidelity. But like Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana, Ys 9: Monstrum Nox makes up for this with ultra-tight combat. As everyone’s favorite adventurer Adol finds himself a fugitive in the prison city of Balduq, slaying foes is once again a priority. Split-second dodging and numerous abilities for each character, along with new traversal methods and the return of Boost Mode, also liven things up significantly. It may not break any new ground in terms of story-telling or action but it’s very good in delivering that classic Ys-style action.
