As typical as Avalanche Software’s open world can be at times, there’s no denying the sheer spectacle or how responsive the combat feels. Flicking spells left and right – an instant death here, an Incendio there – is a blast, sometimes literally, and exploring the region unearths various threats and optional activities like the Dark Arts Battles Arenas. If you want to pursue quests, there’s plenty of that too with some surprisingly fun characters to interact with.
