Dishonored: “Technology is not really the bottleneck”, PS3/Xbox 360 not maxed out

Well the game does look good.

It’s a bit intriguing that some developers still manage to extract juice out of these ancient HD consoles. Games like Halo 4 and The Last of Us look spectacular, so there has to be a reason how these first-party developers keep surprising people when it comes to visual fidelity.

When you talk about good looking games, you have to add Dishonored in there too; a new IP from Arkane Studios and Bethesda that is turning out to be something special.

We interviewed Dishonored’s game designers Raphael Colantonio and Harvey Smith where they revealed a ton of new info, and we also asked them about the current gen consoles and if developers have troubles realizing their vision on them. They said that it’s not really a bottleneck. The full interview will be posted soon.

“Technology is not really the bottleneck, and developers have not come close to maxing out what could be done,” the duo revealed. “The photo-realism graphics race eats up a lot of hardware bandwidth for what could be used for interesting, different features and styles of gameplay. That said, new hardware is always exciting.”

Couldn’t agree more with them. The game comes out on October 9th for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
