While recent news about Halo 5: Guardians has made fans of the series more than a bit annoyed, especially when it comes to the removal of the split screen in multiplayer mode, news about the size of the map in Warzone should make everyone very happy. Microsoft used the first day of the San Diego Comic-Con to let Halo fans know about a new Warzone multiplayer map for Guardians. Dubbed Raid on Apex 7, it has also been billed as the biggest multiplayer map in the history of the Halo franchise.
According to Gamespot, Microsoft found a rather inventive way of showing off the map, as it used Mega Bloks to show off what Raid on Apex 7 will look like. The company says that two master builders spent more than 16 weeks putting the model together. The map is made up of 89,500 blocks and weighs a half-ton. The final touch for the 6′ x 6′ model also sports working, interactive LED lights.
Along with the map, Microsoft released an official description of where Raid on Apex 7 falls in the storyline. “Clearing out the initial Covenant threats and controlling the Forerunner Spire in the center of the island is paramount to a team’s success and provides a central base of operations. If your team loses the Spire, don’t despair; players can use a system of caves or take to the beach to flank the base. Beware of the Covenant though, for they will not let you take this island so easily. They will counterattack and fight to retake their territory. Continue the push for control of the island and take out the opposition’s core… before you awaken something much worse.”
Halo 5 is releasing for the Xbox One on October 27.
