Just one day after a new speedrun record for Fallout: New Vegas was set, it has already been broken. A YouTuber called HollazHalan recently posted a video of himself setting the new speedrun record for an any percentage completion run at 20:47.6.

This speedrun involved multiple glitches and exploits that are in the game being used, but the game was still the base, unaltered, vanilla game- this means that no mods were used for the game, and that the console mod was also not used. Basically, anything that was in the game itself was utilized for this speedrun.

HollazHalan managed to get this time by using a quicksaving and quickloading exploit to clip through walls. He also explained how blowing his own legs up with grenades helped him achieve this milestone in the comments section of his video. “When you cripple your leg, your speed is set to 0, then bring back to 60% of your normal speed. By quickloading just before getting crippled, you can confuse the game into giving you 60% without actually being put to 0 ( because we don’t actually really get crippled). So you get a huge speedboost, and walk at 160% of your normal speed,” he said.

That’s an ingenious exploit to take advantage of, that’s for sure. You can check out the full speedrun for yourself below.
